Last year 2015, Sierraloaded kick started the 20 Hottest Artiste List. And this year, we’re back again!
We’re fully in the last month of the year 2016, and within the time span of January 2016 and December 2016, several new artists have made their entrance into the Sierra Leonean music scene.
Some have made a lot of noise with their music, but only a handful of artists really had us putting their songs on repeat, making noise when a song came on and made serious impact between the aforementioned time period.
In the last 10-12 months, we’ve witnessed the growth of several superstars with hit songs, tours, endorsements and more.
Compiled by Sierraloaded team, the list is a true, undiluted run down of the Artists that shaped, defined and led music among Sierra Leonean consumers throughout the year. It encompasses those with the hottest songs, endorsements, tours, record deals, mega moves on the local and international scene, the award winners, and in general, the people we’ve listened and danced to for the past 12 months..
Be sure to continue refreshing your Sierraloaded homepage to see who’s next.
“Na Friday don com so, Wetin dat mean, time don reach for Pop Collar!”
“I thank God for my life. As long as I’m alive is a must I for Pop Collar!”
Whether you admit it or not, we’ve all uttered that line at some point in the last 12 months. That’s the effect of a hit song. Thanks to the Grandmark Records heavy-hitter Drizilik aka Ben 10/10, we’re all dancing to “Pop Collar”, and it looks like we’ll be rocking it all the way as long as we’re alive!
It’s been a long time coming. And Drizilik is no newbie in the music industry. A quick glance at his career in the last 1 year shows you how much he has evolved to become the complete artist that he is today. Talk about 10 artists rocking the airwaves presently. Your list is incomplete if this young lad is not there.
Drizilik kick started 2016 on a high note in May by blessing us with the video to his 2015 hit single “Pop Collar”. Needless to say that Pop Collar has earned him several spots across multiple charts in the country since its release, the video caused further damage showing off Drizilik’s rap prowess, addictive flow, lyrical abilities and stakes his rights in the music industry.
His follow up single, “Ah De Go Dae Gbet” came in August. Although it didn’t reach those dizzy heights like Pop Collar, it received massive reviews and airplays.
In terms of performance, Drizilik is arguably one of the most performing artiste in 2016 gracing at least 15 music stages including the his very own “Ben 10/10 Concert”, “Freetown Music Festival”, “MaDengn Beach Festival” and the just concluded “New school Uncut Concert”. He has also earned himself performance alongside the likes of Nasser Ayoub, Yung Sal, Fantacee Wiz, Block Jones, Empress Pee, Prodigy and Emmerson.
Let not forget he has just been awarded “NEXTE Young Entertainer” for 2016. There’s no doubt the young lad is a bundle of talent, an intelligent one who believes in what he does and who will invest extra energy to bring out the best in him. The sky is just the beginning if He could replicate this in 2017. Ladies and gentlemen, Meet Drizilik, the #14 Hottest Artist in Sierra Leone 2016!
