APC Kick-Start Lower Level Elections Today



The ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Party will today, Friday, September 22, 2017 kick-start with it conduct of the party Constituency or Lower-Level Elections across the country thereby electing new party officers that will be in charge of it affairs for next couple of years.

The APC Assistant Publicity Secretary II, Cornelius Deveaux, who is also the Deputy Information and Communication Minister said the party have put modalities in place to ensure that the process goes on smoothly.

The Assistant Publicity Secretary II said, the bottom to top approach will commence this Friday, September 22, 2017. He said 22nd and 23rd September is for Constituency elections; 29th and 30th September, 2017 is for the Districts elections while that for the Regions has been slated for the October 6, 2017 and Women Congress October 7, 2017 before heading for the northern province Headquarter Town of Makeni for the party’s National Delegate Conference on the October 14 and 15, 2017; where the standard bearer of the party is going to be elected.

The Assistant Publicity Secretary I, Hon. Robin Falay has described the APC 1995 Constitution as one that is user friendly and gives them the leverage to either elect or select an official for a particular purpose.
He noted that, selecting someone does not in any way makes the process undemocratic because according to him before making such selection he party stalwarts would first of all engage in wide range consultations of all stakeholders to reach a consensus, Hon. Robin Falay said.

Speaking further, Hon. Falay said he has been a member of both the main Opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) and the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Party. He said not that, they are not getting disagreement in the APC but noted that the difference between them and the SLPP is that they can manage their differences as compared to their counterpart.

However, Hon. Robin Falay said, he is hoping for a smooth and a peaceful election process that will put them at vantage to emerge victorious in the March 7, 2018 multitier elections.
