Bintumani Hotel Worker Charged with Wounding


A worker of the Bintumani Hotel in Freetown, Tamba Kainessie has appeared before Magistrate Albert Moody of the Freetown Magistrate Court No.1 on three counts of wounding a Chinese national, Wang Gang.

According to the case file, the accused was brought before the court on three counts of wounding with intent contrary to section 18 of the Offence Against a Person’s Act 1861, wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Particulars of offence state that, the accused Tamba Kainessie on Thursday August 14, 2017, at the Bintumani Hotel injured Wang Gang with intent to cause him bodily harm, and on the same day and place assaulted Wang in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

Police witness, Detective Police Constable (DPC)15105 Sesay A. attached to the headquarters of the Criminal Investigations Department(CID), told the court that on September 4, 2017, a case and an enquiry file of wounding with intent was transferred from the Aberdeen Police Station to the CID headquarters for further investigation which was assigned to him.

He also mentioned that, a butcher knife and a memory stick containing C.C.T.V video footages were given to him as exhibits. He also said that on September 5, 2017, the C.C.T.V footage was displayed to the accused, and statement obtained from him.

He said he handed over the exhibit to the Exhibit Clerk Sergeant 1516 Conteh A. for recording.
Police Prosecutor A.S.P Kamara applied that, before cross-examination, the C.C.T.V footage should be displayed to the court.

The accused was represented by M. Karim Esq. from the Legal Aid Board and C.F Edwards Esq. The matter was adjourned to September 26, 2017 for further hearing.
