Police Witness Testifies in Murder Case



Police detective 13188 Musa J. on Tuesday led evidence in the ongoing matter that involves the killing of one Rosaline Palmer in July this year.

The witness told the Magistrate Court No 1, presided over by Magistrate Alfred Moody that he was attached at the anti-robbery unit at the Lumley Police Station.

He said on July 4, 2017, while he was on duty, a case of murder was reported at the Lumley Police Station. He said the matter was assigned to him for investigation.

The police witness said he witnessed the autopsy of the deceased Rosaline Palmer, adding that the cause of death certificate was issued to him by Dr. Owizz Koroma.

He said on July 6, 2017, a request of call log history from the mobile phone of the deceased was sent to the head of the Criminal Investigation Department by the Officer in Charge of the Anti-Robbery Unit.

‘’On the 3rd August 2017 myself and a team of Criminal Investigation Department personnel and the cyber analyst left the CID [Criminal Investigation Department] in search of one Mohamed Daramy of 15 Dillet Street in Freetown. On our arrival at Mohamed Daramy’s house, he was identified by his sister Binta Jalloh,” he said.

The police witness told the court that Mohamed Daramy presented the mobile phone of the deceased to them upon the request of the cyber analyst.

He said Daramy told them that he bought the phone from the first accused Samuel Kamara in the presence of his friend Alie Margai.

The police witness said that upon interrogation, Margai confirmed that he was present when the first accused Samuel Kamara sold the phone to Mohamed Daramy.

The witness said that upon his arrest, the first accused confirmed to them that he sold the phone to Mohamed Daramy.

At this juncture, the mobile phone which has since been in custody was identified in court.

The police investigator said upon further interrogation, the first accused Samuel Kamara told them about the mobile phone of the deceased that was stolen and led them to a toilet where he kept the key of the vehicle of the deceased. The keys were also identified in court.

Detective Police 13188 Musa J. noted that, at this point after they took the accused to the police station for further investigation.

At this juncture, Defense Lawyer Illoba asked for an adjournment, which was granted by the magistrate. State Counsel Lawyer E.T Jalloh is prosecuting the matter.
