The attention of the Leadership of Alliance Democratic Party (ADP) has been drawn to the verbal interactions on social media between the Minister of Social Welfare, Gender and Children’s Affairs and his Deputy.
The ADP party consider the flaws as fundamental faux pas and a gross misconduct allegedly done by senior government officials.
The two senior government officials supposed to be role models in society.
Last year similar audio with obscene languages between the Minister of Sport and the former Leone Stars coach, was on social media. No disciplinary action was taken to curb the use of invective by State apparatus.
We are also mindful of the fact that government officials are paid from the coffers of the state with taxpayers money. Such unethical and unprofessional attitudes exhibited by government ministers in the eyes of the public is very reckless and unfortunate, to say the least. We are of the view that the affairs of a State can be run by people of high moral values with no integrity deficit or excess baggage.
We therefore call on President Ernest Bai Koroma to dismiss these ministers immediately and set up an independent committee outside of his government who must also be non partisan to investigate the allegations of crack cocaine, blatant corruption, and rape mentioned by the deputy minister who pointedly accused his boss of trading in cocaine and other illegal drugs. Or better still, the Anti Corruption Commission.
Meanwhile, the ADP leader, Mohamed Kamarainba Mansaray will be on Radio Democracy (FM 98.1) Good Morning Salone programme on Monday, March 7, 2016. Stay tuned as the “voice of the voiceless” is back in Sierra Leone after a month tour in the United States of America.
