Turkey-based Denizlispor midfielder Alfred Sankoh has said that he is looking forward to helping the National team qualify for the African Nation Cup 2017 in Gabon.

He said even though the task ahead with the Elephants of Ivory Coast is a very difficult contest, “playing away against the African Champions on Saturday 3rd September 2016 in Ivorian city of Bouake but that match must be a winning game.

If we are to compete on the continental big stage after 20 years that is why we are doing everything possible to make sure we win the match.

Another Sierra Leonean player Simbo has said it is a decisive and tough task for both nations. “On paper, we are second best, but this is football 90 minutes of action, we are highly determined.”

FC Riga defensive midfielder John Kamara who has been consistent and played in every game for his side in this Virsliga campaign will also be part of the team and is also very hopeful that we can win the match.

In another development some players will only be able to join the team in Ivory Coast, the likes of Slovenia-based attacking winger Julius Wobay (Olimpija, Ljubljana) and OPS top soccer Abdul Buduski Sesay will join the team in Ivory Coast on Tuesday.

China-based defender Gibril Sankoh will also return to the Sierra Leone squad after a four-year absence.
