The incidents of fire disaster in Kono District this year has caused many residents engaged in agriculture to think twice.
Few days ago, a village in Gbane Chiefdom in Kono District was gutted down with houses wiped off by the inferno, the source of which remained a puzzle.
Prior to the incident, Thuyor Village in Faiama Chiefom, the home of the late AIG Tamba Pujeh Gbekie, was raised to the ground by bushfire that sprung from an unknown source, destroying everything that was in its way.
Estimating the cost of damage due to fire could run into hundreds of millions of Leones this year.
The latest incident in Gbane Chiefdom saw the concerted effort of the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Madam Diana Finda Konomanyi and other authorities in Kono District including the Mayor of New Sembehu City, the police and Paramount Chiefs and all synergising to give succour to the traumatized victims by providing thirty (30) bundles of zinc, twenty (20) bags of rice and various other condiments and non-food items which the victims appreciated beyond measure for the timeliness of the intervention.
