Magistrate Mohamed Salieu Seray-Wurie at the Siaka Steven street Court # 6, has convicted and sentenced one Yusif Kanu to twelve (12) months imprisonment for fraudulently converting to his own used and benefit 70 DVD Plates value two hundred and eighty thousand Leones which was entrusted to him by his biological brother Osman Kanu for the purpose of sales.

Yusif Kanu (Convict) is charged with the offence of fraudulent conversion.

According to the Police prosecutor Sergeant Francis Macaulay, Yusif sometimes in September 2015 at #44 Circular road in Freetown fraudulently converted to his own personal use and benefit seventy Nigerian video plates properties of the complaint (his brother).

Magistrate Seray-Wurie in his ruling said he had  considered the serious nature of the offence committed by the convict including the statement and particulars of the crime plus the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses given in evidence during the trial and therefore has no doubt in his mind that what the convict did was deliberate.

“The convicted accused was entrusted with goods for sales but having sold the goods decided to criminally  convert the monies to his own use with regard for his elder brother. I shall have mercy on him because he did not waste the court’s time, he is to serve a term of 12 months in prison to be run concurrently”, Magistrate Seray-Wurie ruled.

Meanwhile, the convict is presently cooling his feet in detention at the Pademba road Prison, where he is expected to stay for the next 12 months.
