Sierra Leone’s President Koroma reportedly faced huge embarrassment at the United Nations 71st General Assembly in New York.
This is the second of consecutive embarrassment the President has faced from his countrymen while in the United States vis-à-vis issues bothering around accountability, other ills including his sacking of the former elected Vice President Sam Sumana.
New Age reports that Disgruntled Sierra Leoneans were seen chanting slogans: “Sierra Leone President Bring back our Ebola Money.”
They were also holding placard and banners bearing inscriptions: “our constitution implies popular elections and not whimsical selection of our elected officials.”
“Your so-called ‘Agenda for Prosperity’ is Neither. It is an agenda for private enrichment for you and your cabal.”
“We elected VP Sam Sumana.”
“Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone is here. Where is our Ebola Money? Reinstate our elected Vice President.”
“Dictator Ernest Bai Koroma respects our constitution. No more war in Sierra Leone. No more one party state.”
In what was a response to the anti- government protest, Ministers of Government including country’s Majority Leader of Parliament, a Local Councilor, others were pictured in another video dancing in the street of New York wearing T. shirts bearing the President’s photo.
The Ministers that were singing and dancing to a local song titled: “Send am go dong” include the Minister of Information, Mohamed Bangura, the Minister of Tourism, Sidi Yayah Tunis and of course Hon. Majority Leader Ibrahim Bundu and Councilor Emmanuel Salifu Conteh.
