Through a network of underground reporters, Platinum Media has discovered that, Maada Bio who has been a student all this while and sheltering in England in a Council flat has dished out the staggering amount to purchase the house located at Terrence Drive, Juba Hill in Freetown.

Maada Bio Mansion Freetown

For the past eight years, Sierra Leoneans have viewed Maada as a very broke politician who literally survives through handouts from friends and party supporters.

This latest disclosure has however left tongues wagging with some observers concluding that the former Head of State had indeed amassed considerable wealth from the national coffers which he stored in his over seas bank accounts before leaving the seat of power in 1996 and first settled in Ghana.

According to a senior source within the SLPP, Mr Bio has been organizing several fund raising events for charity purposes back home. The senior member, who asked us not to reveal his identity for fear of victimization said he is now worried over the possibility of Maada Bio converting those funds to buy a house at such a staggering amount.

“This is clearly a case of unexplained wealth and we hope Maada will tell us how he got that money” he maintained, adding that sometime ago, Mr Bio organized a charity event for Ebola orphans in the UK; the proceeds of that event were never accounted for.

The beautiful mansion is located in a pristine environment over-looking the Atlantic Ocean. We were earlier informed that Mr. Bio had only leased the property but further investigations proved it was an outright buy as the said house has not been rented for the past ten years due to its high value. A real estate agent we spoke to said the house could be valued at 2.5 million Dollars.

“We are yet to understand how the former flagbearer of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, Retired Brigadier Julius Maada Bio raised a mouth watering sum of Seven Billion Leones to buy the house of the late lawyer Terrence Terry in Freetown.”, says an Observer adding that the Former SLPP Flagbearer should be investigated.

There have also been accusations of some top civil servants stealing government money to support Maada Bio but while this might be difficult to ascertain at the moment, we are calling on the Anti Corruption Commission to step up its fight against graft in the civil service.
