While he was telling his story, the 49 year old mason said in 2014, he was falsely accused of killing the child of one Esther Conteh, a lady with whom he shared apartment. He said based on this accusation he was arrested and taken to the Waterloo Police Station.

At the police station “I was asked to bail myself. My brother in law bailed me,” he explained. He went on to say that as he was returning home he was told that the remains of the child have been found in one of the wells. “I was confronted by people from the neighbourhood who threatened to torture me”.

He said he was taken back to the police station, adding that on the 21st March 2014 he was charged to court.

He added that since he was imprisoned, the witness did not show up in court. He stated that in December last year he fell ill and was treated for malaria. “After the treatment I started experiencing itching eyes. With the aid of the Don Bosco Fambul, I was taken to Connaught Hospital for treatment”. He noted that as soon as the medication ceased, he lost his sense of sight.

He thanked the board for their timely intervention and called on the government to come to his aid.
