The Chief Electoral Commissioner described the entire process as free, fair and transparent pointing that as a commission they are more concern over pre-election violence all over the country.

The winning SLPP candidate Navo Kaikai said she was happy. After the declaration, she told Awoko Newspaper that before the announcement she was more than confident that the seat belongs to her banking on the fact that for the past ten years she had been fighting for it.

She said the entire constituency had been part of her all this while from birth to date and that she is close to everyone in both the constituency and the district so if NEC officially declares her as the winner then she will not be surprised.

Madam Kaikai said, “I am happy that after ten years I am able to vote for myself to represent my people in parliament and luckily for me, I voted not only in my constituency but in the primary school I attended. That was a blessing for me too and everyone I saw on that day in the queue I recognised and knew almost all of them by name, which tells you we have been together all this while,” she noted.

The losing All People Congress (APC) party candidate Haja Nasaratu Jalloh when contacted after the declaration at their Ngobeh’s family house in Kailahun town said she cannot say anything at that moment regarding the entire process as she was seen busy parking her belongings to travel back to Makeni.
