The World Bank Country Director for Sierra Leone, Liberia and Ghana, Henry Kerali has warned the Government and people of Sierra Leone that there is no economic justification for the construction of a new airport at this time.

Henry Kerali made this statement while talking to cross section of the media in Sierra Leone.

He continued that the position of the World Bank on the Mammah project has remain the same because that should not suppose to be the priority of the Government now.

“The Construction of a new airport is a question of timing, he could be long term programme but there are many issues which the country should look at,” the World Bank Country Director emphasized.

He added that Government should concentrate on the comprehensive post-Ebola recovery plans like investing in a resilient health sector and getting the economy back on it toes

He explained that the government should also look at other option including the development on the Lungi International Airport.

He disclosed that the World Bank will be investing in two brand new ferries which according to him is not an option to Mammah but to help the people of Sierra Leone.
