A Jackson County man who was burned when his furnace exploded in October has died.

Fire Explosion

Fifty-four-year-old David Painter, of Freetown, died at Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis on Nov. 25.

Painter was transported to the hospital after the furnace in his basement exploded on Oct. 26, 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at The Seymour Tribune report.

Investigators say the explosion was accidental and caused by how Painter was operating or attempting to operate the furnace.
