Three Paramount Chiefs in Kenema and Kailahun districts, east of Sierra Leone, have received their staff of office from President Ernest Bai Koroma, in a colourful inauguration ceremony.

The three PCs, Francis Amara Korvaya Gbondo III, of Yawei chiefdom, Kailahun district; Festus Borbor Gaima VII of Dea chiefdom in Kailahun and Moses Sama Bunduka, of Gaura chiefdom, Kenema district.

While handing over the staff to the three paramount chiefs, President Koroma cautioned them to adequately represent their people. He said the issues of better education, safe birth, good medical, agriculture, among others, were the variables being used to assess the nation.

Honorable PC Sheku Fasuluku Sonsiama III officially welcomed his colleagues into the chieftaincy office and encouraged them to be committed to doing their work.

He further explained that the eastern region had one of the highest numbers of chiefdoms in the country and as tradition in the use of costumes, traditional instrument for entertainment among other things were seen as quite unique among easterners.

Subjects of the three chiefs expressed fulfillment over the inauguration of their chiefs and called on other residents to give full support to the new paramount chiefs.
