The Local Unit Commander of the Mattru Police, Bonthe Division, Amadu Turay, has confirmed the arrest and detention of fourteen people.

The arrest were said to be in connection with the recent riot in Bonthe which left two people dead and several injured when a rampaging Poro mob clashed with soldiers of the Bonthe naval base.

In an exclusive interview in his office in Mattru Jong, Turay told Journalists that all the arrested suspects are being held in the Mattru Correctional Centre as the Police cell cannot accommodate all of them, continuing that all fourteen suspects were arrested for riotous conduct and are now helping the Police in their investigation after which they may be charged to court.

The LUC concluded that as the investigation continues, there is the growing possibility that more people will be arrested.
