The Hon. Vice President, Dr. Victor Bockarie Foh on Tuesday 24th May, 2016 joined His Excellency the President, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma at the launch of the Bo-Bandajuma-Gendema International Highway.

The road project, signed between the Ministry of Finance and the European Union on 11th February, 2016 at the Office of the Vice President, is the largest infrastructural project sponsored by the European Union in Sierra Leone and the last lap of the Trans-West African Road for the Sierra Leone Government to complete it obligations.

The project has a component of three (3) major bridges; Sewa, Wanjay and Bandajuma. The road component is 106.3 km with CSE serving as the Design and Supervising Consultants.

The quality of the road will be 7.2 metres wide, with shoulders to accommodate cyclists and motorbikes.

The estimated cost of the project is one hundred and five million euros (?105 million).

Speaking on behalf of the CSE, the Project Manager reassured the Government and people of Sierra Leone that the project will be delivered within twenty four (24) months, pledging to make the project the most successful in terms of quality and time delivery.

The project was officially launched by President Ernest Bai Koroma, who in his statement referred to the EU as a worthy partner. He informed that this is a Grant that will not financially enslave us as a nation. He appealed for collaborative effort for the project to be completed in record time.

Other speakers at the launch included representatives from the European Union and Mano River Union.
