Press Release

Police Headquarters has observed with dismay that incidences of youth crimes, gangsterism and cliques are on the increase and have become a menace to society.

These groups parade the streets, armed with knives, machetes, sharp pointed objects and other corrosive substances which they use to terrorize and inflict harm to unsuspecting citizens going about their normal business.

The management of the Sierra Leone Police frowns at this violent attitude of a cross section of our young people and the untold suffering their activities are causing for peace loving Sierra Leoneans.

The public is therefore informed that the Sierra Leone Police is embarking on a massive operation aimed at preventing, detecting, arresting, investigating and prosecuting clique and gang members who are bent on wrecking havoc in society.

We are therefore soliciting the cooperation of the public to support the Sierra Leone Police in the fight to deter the activities of cliques and gangs in our communities.

In this regard, the Sierra Leone Police is offering the sum of Le 2,000,000 (Two Million) Leones to anyone who gives useful information leading to the arrest of any clique and/or gang leader otherwise known as 5 “O” and their deputies. The information you provide must include the names, addresses, descriptions and their usual haunts. For any useful information regarding this press release, you can call on 078963472.

Be assured that all information will be treated with strict confidentiality.

All rewards will be paid through Airtel Money so as to ensure minimal contact with the Police and also to protect your identity.

Anticipating your usual cooperation.

Signed:
Francis Alieu Munu
Inspector General of Police
