In a desperate attempt to travel, Abdulai Koroma, a teenager was allegedly caught using a forged permanent resident card of the United States of America (USA) with the intention to travel from Sierra Leone.
Abdulai Koroma was caught on Wednesday 9th February 2016 at the Freetown International Airport whilst he tried to use the said documents to travel to the USA and was apprehended by officials at the Airport and has since been in detention.
He was charged to court on one count of forgery contrary to section 6 (1) (2) of the Forgery Act of 1913 and made his first appearance before Magistrate Abou Bhakarr Binneh Kamara of Freetown Magistrate Court No. 1.
According to particulars of offence, on the said date at the Freetown International Airport the accused forged certain document to wit USA permanent resident card in an attempt to travel knowing same to be forged.
The matter was prosecuted by Sergeant 922 John Dumbuya while the accused was represented by lawyer Ismael Phillip Mammie.
Defense Counsel, I P Mammie made application for bail on the grounds that his client will oblige with court proceedings and promised that the accused will not interfere with prosecution’s case nor jump bail.
However, Abdulai was denied bail and was remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre pending preliminary investigations and the matter continues on 16th of March 2016.
