A Sierra Leonean, Florence Kamara, who is a nurse in texas, and the daughter of E. T. Kamara, former secretary general of Sierra Leone’s ruling party, APC, is convicted in texas on 9 counts of healthcare fraud.

Since each count carries a mandatory sentence of 10 years, it is possible she might spend 90 years in federal prison.

According U. S Attorney John M.Bales, a Denton county texas  nurse has been convicted of 9 counts of health care  fraud  in the Eastern  District of Texas.

The accused Florence Kamara that went with several other names like Florence Kroma,Florence Bangura etc etc was  found guilty  by a jury  of nine counts of health care fraud  after a four day trial before U.S district judge Marcia A.com. The accused country of origin is Sierra Leone.

According to information presented in court, Koroma, a registered nurse, owned and operated Mt. Zion Home Health Agency in Denton, Texas. From April 2008 to October 2013, Koroma carried out a scheme to defraud Medicare through the submission of false and fraudulent claims for skilled nursing services which were not provided and which were not authorized by the patients’ physicians. At times, Koroma submitted claims for services which she allegedly provided when she was out of state. At other times, Koroma submitted claims for services which she allegedly provided to patients who testified that they did not know her and had never heard of her company. Koroma was indicted by a federal grand jury on June 11, 2015.

Koroma faces up to 10 years in federal prison for each health care fraud conviction. A sentencing date has not been set.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services—Office of the Inspector General (HHS-OIG), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Department of State.
