Candidate for the Publicity Secretary, in the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Imran Silla and one Salldiatu Bangira have been dragged to Court for allegedly insulting and threatening Ada Love Silla.
Both defendants are arraigned at the Pademba Road Magistrate Court No.1, presided over by Magistrate Tonia Barnet.
They are charged with three count criminal charges, contained in a private criminal summon, bordering on public insult and provocation, abusive language and threatening language.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Hassan Dabor alleged in count one that the defendants between June and July 2016 at No. 20 Nelson Lane, Tengbeh Town, in Freetown, publicly insulted the complaint Ada Love Silla in a provocative and angry manner that was likely to involve her into breaching peach.
In count two and three, the defendants are accused of deliberately using unprintable words and making threatening remarks against the complainant.
However, they have denied the allegation. Lawyer W. C Illogba who represents them has also argued that his clients are innocent.
However, they have been released on three million Leones bail each with one surety each.
Meanwhile, their matter was unable to proceed yesterday and adjourned to the 13th October 2016 because the presiding magistrate was unwell.
